Belt Revivals
Newly in the public domain and reproduced in an affordable edition, with an introduction by Elizabeth Blasius.
The classic book of architectural history and theory contains six lectures given by Frank Lloyd Wright for the 1930 Kahn Lectures at Princeton University: "Machinery, Materials and Men", "Style in Industry", "The Passing of the Cornice", "The Cardboard House", "The Tyranny of the Skyscraper", and "The City". Wright, at the time he was invited to present these essays, was lacking in commissions due to the Wall Street crash, and eager for the prestige the lecture series would afford. The talks, originally published by Princeton University in 1931, helped cement his reputation as one of America's best and most influential modern architects.
Elizabeth Blasius is an architectural historian, writer, and cofounder of Preservation Futures, a Chicago-based firm exploring the future of historic preservation through research, action, and design.
