"I think the one thing I learned from the book is that Detroiters are fearless in describing their surroundings. It’s one thing to be a product of Detroit, to live here and to have the way you navigate through life as a result of it. But to break down the reasons why Detroit makes a person the way they are, and to also connect all of the Detroiters (and Highland Parkers and Hamtramckans) in their orbit and how we all are interconnected, that takes a special kind of courage."
